Two Psu Students Receive Varsity Athlete Awards

University Park, Pa. -- Jeffrey A. Hartings and Olga Kalinovsky were named recipients of the 1996 Ernest B. McCoy Memorial Award, which is presented to senior varsity athletes who have combined academic achievement with successful athletic participation. They will be honored at the Student Awards Reception Monday, April 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the Nittany Lion Inn.

Hartings, a marketing major from St. Henry, Ohio, is a two-time wire service All American as well as a three time GTE Academic All American. He has excelled academically while leading one of the country's premier football offensive lines as a guard. Hartings has also been awarded an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship by the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame.

Kalinovsky, an electrical engineering major from State College, is captain of the women's fencing team and a GTE Academic All American. She has won three individual NCAA Foil Championships, and was a member of the 1995 NCAA combined men and women's fencing championship team.
