Kyle A. Richards Receives Graduate Student Service Award

University Park, Pa. -- Kyle A. Richards, a master's degree candidate from Perkasie who is completing his course work in counselor education at Penn State, received the 1996 Graduate Student Service Award. He will be honored at the Student Awards Reception Monday, April 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the Nittany Lion Inn.

The award recognizes one graduate student who combines high academic achievement with either leadership in the University or public activities.

Richards is co-director of the Coalition of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Graduate Students, and is also a volunteer member of the Student Concerns Committee of the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Equity. He has twice served as a volunteer facilitator for Encampment, and this year served as a facilitator for the Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat for the Volunteer Center of Centre County.

Richards has acted as an adviser to Project Growth, and was a founding organizer for the Penn State Alumni Association's Lambda Alumni Interest Group. He was selected as a summer intern for the Association of College and University Housing Officers International, and has presented twice at the American College Personnel Association national convention.
