1-23-97

University Park, Pa. - The Office for Minority Faculty Development at Penn State will offer a series of developmental workshops covering topics such as tenure and promotion, electronic application processes and mentoring minority undergraduates.

The first one, "Promotion and Tenure for Junior Faculty," will be held this weekend, Sat., Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon in 114 Kern Building. The speaker is Blannie Bowen, senior faculty mentor and professor of agricultural and extension education.

Each semester the Office presents a series of workshops to better prepare junior faculty to reach their professional goals.

"We particularly want to get our faculty up to speed with the technology, so they are comfortable submitting their grant applications electronically over the web. Electronic submission is clearly the wave of the future," said Bowen.
