University Park, Pa. -- Dr. Richard Kopley, associate professor of English at the DuBois Campus and associate head of English for the Commonwealth Educational System, recently received a Barbara Karlin Grant for picture book writing from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. The unpublished book, "The Remarkable David Wordsworth," is set in a second grade classroom and concerns a boy who invents new compound words, causing new creatures and things to appear. It is targeted to an audience of five to 10-year-old children. Kopley is currently working on a sequel, "David Wordsworth Goes Too Far."
