Booth Selected To Be White House Intern
4-24-96
University Park, Pa. -- A demonstration of academic excellence and a commitment to public service have earned Penn State Senior Bruce Booth a place in the White House.
Booth was recently selected in national competition to be a White House Intern. He plans to work in the national AIDS Policy Office, which is responsible for the Administration's policies on HIV/AIRS and deals with such issues as research, prevention and media relations. Booth will assist with press conferences, briefings and public events and attend a weekly speaker series with senior White House staff, cabinet secretaries and members of the news media.
In keeping with President Clinton's emphasis on National Service, White House interns are also required to be involved with local community service organizations.
A University Scholar and president of the Interfraternity Council, Booth received a Marshall Scholarship in January for two or three years of study at a British university, beginning this fall. He plans to continue his work in biochemistry and microbiology at the University of Oxford's Institute of Molecular Medicine.
