The latest round of grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) includes $99,111 in funding to support a national summer seminar on Chaucer at the University Park campus.
For the summer quarter, the NEH dispensed 163 grants totaling $17.6 million. In Pennsylvania, six programs across the state were awarded funding totaling $381,781.
The Chaucer seminar, "Chaucer and Ancient and Modern," is under the direction of Robert R. Edwards, director of the Institute for the Arts and Humanistic Studies and a distinguished professor of English.
NEH grants are awarded on a competitive basis. Throughout the year, humanities experts outside of the NEH assess all applications and judge the quality and significance of each proposed project.
