President seeks civil community,
asks for loyalty and commitment
On Friday, University President Graham Spanier
challenged faculty, staff and students to play a larger role in the life of
the University and reopened the dialogue on humanizing Penn State that he
began in 1995 during his very first State of the University Address.
HUB/Robeson opens in stages
Impressive. That's one word to describe the new
HUB/Robeson Cultural Center on the University Park campus. Now open to students,
faculty and staff, the new HUB/Robeson sports an unobstructed airy design,
with 12,000 square feet of exterior windows, tile floors, about 2,000 square
feet of skylights and new eateries.
Schools join in national ad campaign
to curb binge drinking
Penn State has taken the lead in a national campaign
aimed at raising public awareness of the dangers of high-risk and binge drinking
by young people. The campaign, being launched Sept. 10 by the National Association
of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), 113 member institutions
and the Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land-Grant Universities,
involves a variety of awareness tactics.
