Ridge's budget is disappointing for Penn State
The proposed $18.6 billion general fund budget revealed last week by Gov.
Tom Ridge disappointed University officials, who were looking for a higher
level of funding to help Penn State maintain quality and hold the line on
tuition.

DuPont has donated a patent and related technical information valued at
$6 million to Penn State to encourage the commercial development of compounds
to alleviate crop damage caused by mites.
Study shows campus infuses $437 million
into local economy
Penn State's University Park campus contributes more than $437 million each
year to the Centre Region economy, and generates directly or indirectly
nearly two-thirds of all jobs in the region, according to a recently completed
economic impact study commissioned by the University.
