commencement
will be Dec. 14, 16
A longtime faculty member and a state senator will be the keynote speakers at Penn State Capital College's commencement ceremonies in December.
Melvin Blumberg, professor of management, will deliver the commencement address at the Schuylkill campus ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in the gymnasium. State Sen. Joe Conti will be the Harrisburg campus speaker at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Hersheypark Arena.
Blumberg joined Penn State Harrisburg in 1985 as professor of management and director of the School of Business Administration, a post he held until 1990. He now serves as a senior research scientist for the Center for the Quality of Working Life and as a faculty member in the school, focusing his research and teaching on Total Quality Management, design of high-performing organizations and strategic management of technology and innovation.
Conti is a longtime public servant and community leader. Initially elected to his state Senate seat for the 10th district in a special election in 1997, he was re-elected in 1998.
Conti, who earned a bachelor's degree in the liberal arts from Penn State 1976, will be awarded a master of arts in American studies during the commencement ceremonies.
