The Commission for Women invites all full-time faculty, staff and technical service employees to apply to participate in its Mentoring Program for the 2001-2002 academic year.

The program promotes professional and personal development by connecting University employees with others who can advise them on work-related issues such as career planning, job skill enhancement and University involvement.

Full-time faculty, staff and technical service employees can apply to be a mentor or protégé, depending on their needs and goals. Mentors can come from all levels of experience, while protégés do not need to be new to the workforce or the University. Participants will meet their prospective mentor or protégé before establishing a formal relationship. All mentors and protégés will attend a training session at the beginning of the program at which time they will design an individual plan to meet each other's goals.

Mentors and protégés should anticipate committing about 3.5 hours per month to participate in the program, including two hours one-on-one with your partner, and 1.5 hours in group activities such as workshops and brown-bag lunch discussions. The formal mentor-protégé relationship is designed to last for one academic year.

Participants will need to fill out a brief application and submit a one-page cover letter explaining what they hope to get out of the program.

Applications are available in the Commission for Women office, 311 Grange Building, University Park, or on the Web at http://www.lions.psu.edu/cfw/.

The deadline for applications is Friday, April 30.
