in Brief Blood driveThe Alumni Association, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on the University Park campus. A free barbecue will also take place for those who donate blood. Participants are encouraged to make appointments. Rummage saleDonations now being accepted for the Department of Biobehavior Health Rummage Sale which will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, outside of East Health and Human Development Building on the University Park campus. The activity is a unit activity for the Faculty/Staff Campaign within the Grand Destiny Campaign. Donations will benefit the Biobehavioral Health Enhancement Fund which was established to honor and recognize outstanding accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate students, and staff members within the Department of Biobehavioral Health. Graduate School ConvocationNew and returning graduate students and postdoctoral students will be welcomed at the third annual Graduate School Convocation from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Eisenhower Auditorium on the University Park campus. Speakers include President Graham B. Spanier; Eva J. Pell, vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School; and Ozgur Tunceli, president of the Graduate Student Association and doctoral candidate in agricultural, environmental and regional economics. Participating University organizations include: the Office of Disabilities Services, Career Services, Center for Counseling and Psychology Services, Center for the Performing Arts, Financial Aid Office, Graduate Student Association, Black Graduate Student Association, Housing and Food Services, Office of International Students, Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Graduate Writing Center, Statistical Consulting Center, University Health Services, Student Insurance Office, University Libraries, Schreyer Institute, Graduate School Office of Fellowships and Awards and the Graduate School Alumni Society.
