Center for the Performing
Arts introduces
updated hearing assistance
devices
The Center for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with the College of Arts and Architecture and the Office of Physical Plant, has updated the hearing assistance devices used during live performances at Eisenhower Auditorium on the University Park campus. The new devices provide better sound quality for individuals with hearing impairment.
The updated hearing assistance devices work by channeling infrared beams, emitted from panels surrounding the auditorium, into audience members' headsets. The headsets then pick up the dialogue and/or music from stage and make it much more audible to the listener.
The hearing devices, supplied by Sound Associates of New York City, are available free for all patrons who wish to use them. To use the device, patrons should stop by the Audience Services kiosk in the lobby of Eisenhower Auditorium the evening of the performance. An identification card must be provided as a security deposit.
