Penn State Intercom......August 22, 2002 Parking Office announces changesThe Parking Office at University Park has announced a permanent change in the parking lot designation near Fleet Services, and also some temporary parking restrictions designed to facilitate students moving into the residence halls. Due to student arrival and move-in, employees are not permitted to park in the following lots Thursday, Aug. 22: Green C; Green G; Brown J; Orange B at East Halls; Orange D at McKean and Pennypacker; Orange G Mifflin Road; Orange G McElwain and Simmons; and Orange G Pollock Commons. These lots will be staffed on Thursday evening by Housing and Events staff and University Police will handle the staffing beginning Friday morning. Employees who are displaced from these parking lots are permitted to park in the Eisenhower Parking Deck (YF), or in any of the other Orange lots. Questions or comments should be directed to Jean E. Harris at (814) 863-7021 or via e-mail to jeh8@psu.edu. Effective the first day of fall semester, Aug. 27, the Fleet Operations lot identified by sign currently as Orange A will change permanently to a reserved lot identified by sign as Red T. Due to the inability over the past few years to provide sufficient parking for the fleet rental vehicle customers, the lot is being changed to a reserved lot. Only Red T and any area permits will be valid in the Red T parking lot. Orange permits no longer will be valid in this lot. Fleet customers possessing a current University parking permit will be issued a Red T temporary permit for the length of their rental vehicle use. This permit will be issued at the Fleet Operations counter when the customer registers for the fleet vehicle. Employees using vehicles from the Athletic Pool will obtain their Red T temporary permits from a designated contact in the Intercollegiate Athletics Office. Those displaced by the change of the lot from open staff to reserved parking will find available space in the Stadium West lot. This summer, Stadium West is being renovated to accommodate daily use parking at the commuter lot price. Additionally, a traffic light is being installed on Park Avenue at the entrance to Stadium West to assist with pedestrian safety and traffic concerns. An additional change as a result of this lot designation is the removal of vehicle parking from the College of Agricultural Sciences area (cow barns) adjacent the cow fields. The college has requested that vehicles not park in the area on a daily basis due to access to the fields and the movement of large farm machinery. There is an exception for the delivery of new fleet vehicles awaiting registration and plates. Agriculture employees with permits will park adjacent the barns and department buildings. The driveway of Agriculture's residence is reserved for residents of the facility displaying orange open staff permits. |
