Kopp Award
nominations sought
The University's International
Council currently is accepting nominations for the 2002-03 W. LaMarr Kopp
International Achievement Awards. The awards, established in 1995, were
renamed in honor of W. LaMarr Kopp, deputy vice-president for International
Programs and professor emeritus on the occasion of his retirement in 1996.
Kopp, who served the University in a number of administrative positions
for more than 33 years, was honored for his efforts to make the University
part of the global community.
The W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Awards annually recognize those who have contributed significantly to the advancement of the international mission of the University. The awards are given in four categories: faculty, staff, graduate student and undergraduate student. Each award carries a $1,000 stipend and a certificate of recognition.
Criteria for the awards can be found on the Web at http://www.international.psu.edu/news_events/kopp/iaward_kopp_introduction.asp.
This year's award selection committee is chaired by Ingrid Blood, associate vice provost for Undergraduate Education and past chair of the International Council.
The four winners will receive their awards at the annual awards convocation in the spring semester of 2003. Nominations/applications and supporting material are due in 222 Boucke Building no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14. Forms are available from Tammy Walk at walk@ip.psu.edu or (814) 863-4030 or on the International Programs Web site listed above.
