Hybrid1
The University
recently was awarded the 2002 Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy in recognition of its commitment to wind energy. The University's five-year contract to purchase 5 percent of University Park's electrical needs from wind energy established Penn State as the second-largest purchaser of wind energy in the nation. Keeping with the "green" theme, Paul Ruskin, physical plant communicator, drove to Washington, D.C., in the University's first electric hybrid vehicle to accept the award.
