John C. Becker, professor of agricultural economics and law in the College of Agricultural Sciences, was installed as the president of the American Agricultural Law Association at the association’s annual meeting and educational conference in Indianapolis.

Martha T. Conklin, associate professor of hotel, restaurant and recreation management, was appointed by the president of the American Dietetic Association to represent that organization on the planning committee for the "Healthy Schools Summit: Taking Action for Children's Nutrition and Health" in Washington, D.C. Conklin was selected to represent the association on the planning committee because she currently serves as the chair of the organization's School Nutrition Services Dietetics Practice Group, which consists of approximately 1,000 dietetics professionals throughout the United States who administer school meals programs and conduct nutrition education for children in kindergarten-through-12th-grade settings.

Ann M. Kolanowski, associate professor of nursing and interim professor-in-charge of graduate programs in the School of Nursing, has been named a Fellow by the clinical medicine section of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA). She will be recognized along with all other new GSA Fellows during the organization's annual meeting in Boston. GSA is the oldest and largest multidisciplinary scientific organization in the world devoted to the advancement of aging-related research. Kolanowski is being honored for her contributions to the field of gerontological nursing, specifically interventions related to neurological disorders and dementia-related behaviors.

Allan M. Krall, professor emeritus of mathematics, made a presentation on "Linear Hamiltonian difference systems" during the 22nd Annual Southeast-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. Also during the event, attendees celebrated Krall's career and honored the memory of his father, the late Harry L. Krall, who was a member of the faculty in the Department of Mathematics at the University from 1933 until his retirement in 1973.
