Sesquicentennial logo

Penn State, chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on Feb. 22, 1855, and preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2004-05, has unveiled this design as the official logo of the observance. According to Vice President for University Relations Steve MacCarthy, who heads the University's sesquicentennial planning committee, the goal was to create a single logo that could be used in a wide variety of applications, from stationery to coffee mugs, from T-shirts to the Internet. The Department of University Publications produced the design.
