This is an introduction to the comparative analysis of approaches to the organization and regulation of enterprises operating in corporate form in the United States, Europe, Japan and China. The focus is on formal sources of regulation, mostly law, and on their implementation given differences and similarities in social, economic and political organization. The overall goal is provide a basis for understanding the way systems of regulation adjust to each other in the context of global trading regimes.

This is the second edition of the book written by Hartman and Mutmansky. Hartman, who was head of the Department of Mining as well as associate dean at Penn State, also was dean of engineering at Cal State at Sacramento and at Vanderbilt University. Hartman died Jan.12.
