Emeritus Faculty Teaching Scholars honored

Ten emeritus faculty members have been named Provost's Emeritus Faculty Teaching Scholars as part of an initiative which provides additional opportunities for emeritus faculty to return to the classroom to share their expertise and time with students.

The following emeritus faculty have been chosen to teach either at campus colleges or University Park in 2002-2003: Emil Kanzes, professor emeritus of physics; Peter Labosky Jr., professor emeritus of wood science and technology; Felix L. Lukezic, professor emeritus of plant pathology; Richard F. Stinson, professor emeritus of agricultural education and horticulture; Bill Sanders, Evan Pugh professor of anthropology emeritus; Robert P. Hostetler, associate professor emeritus of mathematics; Claire Hirshfield, professor emerita of history; David Gold, professor emeritus of geology; Sabih I. Hayek, distinguished professor emeritus of engineering; and Graham Jeffries, emeritus professor of medicine.

As part of the program, emeritus faculty may teach a new course, develop new approaches to teaching and learning, offer a small section of a larger course or participate in other scholarly teaching activities. They are chosen by nomination for these special assignments.
