Thurman retires from
Public Broadcasting
After 30 years of service, George R. Thurman has retired from the University.
Most recently, Thurman served as the director of technology for Penn State Public Broadcasting (PSPB), the umbrella organization for WPSX-TV and WPSU-FM.
He was responsible for overseeing the transition from analog to digital transmission for television, the expansion of radio signal coverage for WPSU and has been instrumental in the planning and coordination for a new building to house PSPB, which will be built in Innovation Park.
During his tenure, Thurman also served as director of operations and engineering, executive producer and as a producer for WPSX, earning numerous awards for his productions.
Coble retires after
36 years of service 
Wendie G. Coble, staff assistant VII with Outreach Human Resources in Outreach and Cooperative Extension, has retired after 36 years of service at the University.
She joined the University staff as a clerk V in the Accounting Department in 1966. Coble was appointed staff assistant VI in the Continuing Education Department, now the Division of Continuing Education. She has been with the division since 1969, serving as a staff assistant in several offices. She has been with Outreach Human Resources since August 2001. Her responsibilities included working on financial and payroll documents, scheduling meetings and handling other office assignments.
During her career, Coble was honored with the 1990 Award for Staff/Program Support by Continuing Education and a Special Commendation in 2000 for the University's Y2K Outreach Program by the Governor's Office for Information Technology.
Coble graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School in 1963. She spent a year and a half working in a drug store and another year and a half with Baltimore Life Insurance Co. before joining the University.
In retirement,
Coble plans to enjoy time at home, as well as do some traveling to visit
friends.
