Staters Stephen J. Benkovic, Evan Pugh professor and Eberly family chair in chemistry, has been selected as the recipient of the Merck Award of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a recognition of outstanding contributions to research in biochemistry and molecular biology. Benkovic will receive the award during a banquet in his honor at the society's 2003 annual meeting in San Diego, Calif., at which he will present an invited lecture titled "DNA Replication by the T4 Replisome." A CD-ROM used in student-recruitment efforts has earned Pennsylvania College of Technology an Award of Distinction in The Communicator Awards, an international competition honoring excellence in visual communications. The college won the award in the "Multi-Media/Interactive CD-ROM" category for its "degrees that work" marketing tool for prospective students. Penn College staff contributors include Alex P. Bierly, multimedia development specialist, creative design and flash content; Bruce E. Huffman, coordinator of digital media production, navigation and digital media engineering; Elaine J. Lambert, director of college information and community relations, interviews and text; Christopher J. Legarski, piano player, project assistant, graphics and digital media; and Christopher J.
