The book is coedited by Francisco A. Villarruel, associate professor of family and child ecology at Michigan State University; Lynne M. Borden, extension specialist and associate professor at University of Arizona; and Joanne G. Keith, professor of family and child ecology at Michigan State University. It focuses on positive methods for youth development that are rapidly supplanting the traditional deficit-oriented problem-reduction approaches. Specifically, this edited volume provides practical tools and models for developing communitywide initiatives that strengthen protective factors, build competencies and focus on indicators of thriving.
