Staters Thomas G. Winter, professor of physics at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society. His fellowship certificate will be presented to him in May at the annual meeting of the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics of the American Physical Society in Boulder, Colo. The University Continuing Education Association (UCEA) Distance Learning Awards Program has selected the Penn State online course, METEO 101: Understanding Weather Forecasting, as the 2003 winner of the Meritorious Course Award for College Courses. The UCEA is the principal organization for continuing higher education. METEO 101 developers and instructors, David Babb and Lee Grenci; and Peter Rubba, director of academic programs, Department of Distance Education/World Campus, were presented with the award at a UCEA Distance Learning Community of Practice luncheon in Chicago. |
