Purdue Scholar Lectures On Sports Psychology

University Park, Pa. -- Joan Duda, professor of kinesiology and director of the Sport and Health Psychology Laboratory at Purdue University, will present the Dorothy V. Harris Lecture in Sports Psychology for the Department of Kinesiology on Thursday, March 20, at 4:15 p.m. in Ballroom DE at the Nittany Lion Inn at Penn State's University Park campus.
The title of Duda's presentation is "Goal perspectives in the sport domain: Implications for motivation, moral behavior, and health."
Duda's research concerns the study of motivation and psychological factors influencing performance and persistence in sport and exercise. She has consulted athletes and coaches in a variety of sports specializing in the development of goal-setting skills, imagery, concentration, stress management and pre-performance routines.
Since 1992, she has been the sport psychology consultant for the USA Gymnastics Artistic National Team and Women's Program. She is a member of their Task Force on the Female Triad.
