Community Arts Is Topic Of April 7 Roundtable

University Park, Pa. -- The Commission for the Advancement of the Arts will present its report on the status of the arts in Centre County and host a discussion of key issues -- including the need for improved facilities -- at an open public meeting on Tuesday, April 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom.

The roundtable discussions will be led by John Brighton, provost and executive vice president of Penn State; Candace Dannaker, mayor of Bellefonte; Bill Welch, mayor of State College; and Neil Porterfield, dean of Penn State's College of Arts and Architecture.

Helen Manfull, professor emeritus of Penn State's School of Theatre Arts, Mark Srock, owner of the Rowland Theater in Philipsburg, and Charlene Friedman, president of Downtown State College Partnership, Inc., will each present a six-minute response to the report findings. Topics of discussion include the current state of arts facilities in the region and their economic impact on Centre County.
