"Take Note" On Wpsx Features Gardening Call-In Series

University Park, Pa. -- It's not too early to think about gardening and landscaping. "Take Note," the public affairs program from WPSX-TV, Channel 3, will feature extension experts from the Penn State's College of Agriculture in a five-part gardening call-in. Hosted by Patty Satalia, the programs will air at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb. 27.

Viewers are invited to call 1-800-543-8242 during the live broadcasts with questions about pruning fruit trees and ornamentals, pest control for trees and shrubs, starting seedlings, and propagating house plants.

"Take Note" guests will include:

Monday, Feb. 23: Michael D. Orzolek, professor of vegetable crops, will explain the best methods for starting seedlings and handling transplants.

Tuesday, Feb. 24: Greg Hoover, senior extension entomologist, will provide tips on tree and shrub pest management.

Wednesday, Feb. 25: Robert Berghage, floriculturist, will demonstrate techniques for propagating house plants.

Thursday, Feb. 26: Robert Crassweller, professor of fruit crops, will demonstrate proper pruning of fruit trees for maximum yield.

Friday, Feb. 27: Bob Nuss, ornamental horticulturist, will explain proper pruning techniques for ornamentals.
