Hear the latest thoughts on communicating during a crisis from panelists Steve Abrams, emergency management coordinator for Penn State and the Centre Region; Maurine Claver, director of environmental health and safety; Dennis Heitzmann, director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services; and Kevin Morooney, vice provost for Information Technology. Panel moderator is Annemarie Mountz, assistant director of Public Information and lead administrator of Penn State's emergency text-messaging system.

Penn State Video Manager Curt Parker will introduce some of the ways Penn State is reaching out to its audiences.

2:45-4 p.m. Crisis communications in athletics and the media

Three mass communications experts explore the relationships between student-athletes and the media, the roles Public Information plays within those relationships, and strategies for improving Public Information's internal strategic collaborations while dealing with both traditional and social media.

Panelists are Malcolm Moran, Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and Society Penn State; Mike Poorman, senior lecturer in the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism and director of Alumni Relations in the College of Communications, Penn State; Marie Hardin, associate professor of journalism and associate director of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
