Stephen J. Abram

Stephen J. Abrams was appointed by Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell in 2002 as the Pennsylvania State University (University Park campus) and Centre Region Council of Governments emergency management coordinator. He is responsible for providing emergency management services for the University campus and six local municipalities that border University Park. His 11 years as an emergency manager in Florida experiencing a number of Presidential Disaster Declarations resulted in Florida Gov. "Jeb" Bush awarding him the State of Florida Distinguished Service Award recognizing his efforts and service in Florida emergency management.

Maurine Claver

Maurine Claver joined Penn State as an industrial hygienist in 1979. She later became manager of Environmental Health and Safety, and in 1996 was named director of the unit. She led the staff expansion of the unit from four to its current staff of 21, who are are responsible for all areas of environmental health and safety at University Park and 21 other campuses. Before joining Penn State she was with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection; the Amherst, Mass., Department of Health; and the National Institutes of Health.

Dennis Heitzmann

Dennis Heitzmann has been the director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services and affiliate professor of counseling and clinical psychology at Penn State University since 1984. Prior to Penn State, Dennis served as director of the Center for Student Development at the University of Memphis. In addition to his university activities, he maintains a private practice in psychology and organizational consulting. In addition, he has been an author, consultant, lecturer and program presenter on various mental health topics. Active in professional affairs, Dennis has served as president of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD), and president of the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc. In 2003 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from AUCCCD for his career contributions to university student mental health.

Kevin Morooney

Kevin Morooney came to Penn State in 1988 to provide support for faculty using the various supercomputer centers across the country. Over the years, he came to lead many efforts in the support of research until his duties were expanded to include institution wide services, the exploration of emerging technologies, while continuing the support of research. In October 2006, Kevin took on the role of Vice Provost for Information Technology/CIO, and is charged with leading Information Technology Services, an organization that serves faculty, students, and staff at all campus locations. Before joining Penn State, he worked as a biomedical engineer in the department of pulmonary and neurology at what is now Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

David Lindstrom

David Lindstrom is the chief privacy officer of Penn State. The Privacy Office is the lead administrative unit of the University with responsibility for privacy policy development, implementation and oversight. Additionally, he is responsible for the administration of various programs and projects that address other privacy-related legal and regulatory obligations of the university under state and federal law. Prior to being named chief privacy officer, Lindstrom served as special assistant to the provost for HIPAA compliance from 2001-2003 and was responsible for the development and administration of all compliance efforts within Penn State to meet the requirements of HIPAA in clinical units, research, and all support services. As part of his longstanding career, Lindstrom also served as the associate director of University Health Services with administrative responsibility for the finance, patient services, health insurance, and facilities development of the Health Services. In addition, he had administrative responsibility for Penn State's emergency medical services (EMS) clinical operation. He is an affiliate faculty member of the College of Health and Human Development and provides academic oversight to all EMS educational programs offered through the college. Lindstrom currently serves as secretary of the Board of Directors of the All Hazards Consortium, a Maryland-based corporation charged with improving homeland security and all hazards planning for seven states and the District of Columbia.

Cyndee Graves

Cyndee Graves is the assistant director of University Marketing and Advertising for Penn State. Graves holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler School of Business, and an M.A. in psychology from Drake University. She previously worked in marketing for Hallmark, Tonka Toys, and Fruit of the Loom. She led the marketing and strategic planning processes for well-known consumer product lines, such as Keepsakes, Pound Puppies and Underoos. Her national advertising campaigns developed strong image and brand identities.

Cole W. Camplese

Cole W. Camplese serves as the Director of Education Technology Services at the Pennsylvania State University. As director, it is his responsibility to oversee University-wide initiatives with a focus on impacting teaching and learning with technology. Camplese and his team have led the creation of the Blogs at Penn State, Podcasts at Penn State, and the Digital Commons. Before accepting this position, Camplese served as director of the Solutions Institute in Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology. The Solutions Institute is an applied research and development institute with a focus on the innovative uses of technology for education and training. Camplese designed the Online IST program that has been used to serve as the foundation for both resident and distance deliveries of the college's core undergraduate curriculum. Camplese also was principle investigator and chief administrator for the Pennsylvania Governor's School in Information Technology, an outreach program designed to enrich Pennsylvania's best and brightest high school juniors in the areas of information technology management. He serves on several industry and higher education advisories boards. He is an established consultant and published author, and has presented both practical and theoretical concepts at regional and national conferences. He received a master of science degree in instructional technology from Bloomsburg University.

Barton Pursel

Barton Pursel teaches courses at Penn State focusing on emerging web technologies and tools and how they impact individuals and organizations. He also is a senior instructional designer within the Solutions Institute to create information systems to support classroom and online learning. Pursel's research interests include the exploration of games and virtual worlds for non-entertainment purposes, and he is heavily involved in the College of Information Science and Technology's Second Life initiative. He works with faculty members to design, implement, and assess various uses of Second Life for learning. In addition to his work with IST, Pursel also works as an educational game designer with Education Technology Services (ETS), assisting in the creation of a university-wide educational gaming initiative. He earned his master's degree in technology from Bloomsburg University and his doctoral degree from Penn State.

C. (Curt) Roy Parker

C. (Curt) Roy Parker serves as the Manager for Video Communications in the Department of Public Information at Penn State. Most of the streaming video content on the live.psu.edu site is produced by his unit. Parker is also a technical liaison and resource for television crews coming to campus for video production. He has shot packages for ABC News and other web-based companies. With more than 20 years of video production experience, Parker spent more than 17 of those years at Penn State Public Broadcasting, where he worked as a videographer, editor, audio engineer, graphics designer, studio camera operator, producer and talent for a variety of local and national projects. He is the winner of two regional Emmys and several educational awards. He also is an adjunct instructor in the College of Communications where he teaches intermediate and advanced video production course

Malcolm Moran

Malcolm Moran, the Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and Society at Penn State University, previously worked at The New York Times, USA Today, Newsday and the Chicago Tribune. He is a past president of the United States Basketball Writers Association, a member of its Hall of Fame, and a first-place winner in its most recent Best Writing Contest. Moran was the 2007 winner of the Curt Gowdy Print Media Award presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for outstanding lifetime coverage of basketball.

Mike Poorman

Mike Poorman is a 1982 graduate of Penn State and was sports editor of the student-run Daily Collegian. He has covered Penn State football for six newspapers, including the (State College) Centre Daily Times, where he was associate sports editor, as well as the Associated Press. He was founding editor of the tabloid Blue-White Illustrated and co-founder of The Penn State Football Annual. As editor of The Annual, he did 22 one-on-one interviews with Joe Paterno. He has also served as editor of football and/or all-sports annuals covering Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse, Army, Navy and Air Force. For the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, he has taught the capstone "Sportswriting" course for five years, including the first three years as the course's sole instructor. He has developed a new 400-level course at Penn State, "Joe Paterno, Communications and The Media," to begin in fall 2008.

Marie Hardin, associate professor of journalism, is director of Penn State's Center for Editing Excellence and is associate director of its John Curley Center for Sports Journalism. She teaches classes in reporting, editing, ethics and sports media. Hardin's research concentrates on diversity, ethics and professional practices in sports media, and her work has been published in AEJMC journals including Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Newspaper Research Journal and Mass Communication & Society. Hardin is also involved in several media industry organizations. She is newsletter editor for the Association for Women in Sports Media and is a member of the selection committee for the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. She is also an active member of the American Copy Editors Society. Before completing her Ph.D. at the University of Georgia in 1998, she worked as a newspaper reporter and editor. She has also worked as a freelance magazine writer.
