Commissions join together to denounce incivility

The following is a statement by the chairs of the three commissions, to promote civility at the University:

Our commissions are deeply disturbed by the recent expressions of hate. We consider these expressions of hate to be acts of violence directed both at individuals and at the communities they represent. We do not condone such behavior, and we are committed to creating a climate that respects and celebrates diversity.

To discourage future hate acts, we strongly urge coalition-building -- not only among the groups targeted, but also with those who want to be allies.

Our commissions are here for support. To learn more about our work and for contact information, check the Web at http://www.lions.psu.edu/equity/.
