Memorial
sculpture installed
A
memorial sculpture honoring the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks was installed Sunday, Nov. 11, in front of Pattee Library
on the University Park campus. The sculpture features approximately
5,000 waterproof black panels representing the current number
of people listed as dead or missing from the attacks.
The
project was developed by the Student Design Group, a committee
of students from across the University that has been meeting
weekly since Sept. 11, to create a memorial sculpture that could
be installed on campus as a community event.
The
sculpture will remain on display through Nov. 18. The entire
project will be documented through still and moving images,
which will be archived within the School of Visual Arts and
used in presentations.

Town and Gown worked together on the front lawn of Pattee Library
on the University Park campus to create a memorial of black
fabric panels. The memorial, titled Remembering Sept.
11: A Memorial in Sculpture, has one panel for each of
the 4,547 missing and dead from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
