Hometown
support
December

Happy Valley’s
hometown favorite, Larry Johnson, has plenty of support for
the Heisman Trophy.
The senior Penn
State running back, who last night won the Maxwell award, given
to the nation's top collegiate football player, and the Doak
Walker Award, presented annually to the nation's top collegiate
running back, and
was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year and a first team
Walter Camp All-American, is getting a great deal of backing
from State College’s business district where blue and
white “LJ for the Heisman” posters are plastered
on doors and windows throughout downtown State College.
Some 250 posters,
the brainchild of Cathy Horner, owner of Tadpole Crossing, were
printed and distributed by the Downtown State College Partnership
more than a week ago.
“We’re
in support of Larry — he’s a local from State College
and it was just to show downtown’s support of Larry and
that we’re behind him,” said Theresa Sparacino,
executive director.
The Heisman Trophy
winner will be announced Saturday.
