First
significant snowfall
of season blankets Penn State
December
5, 2002
The calendar may
say the start of winter is still more than two weeks away, but
people at Penn State's University Park campus awoke to a wonderland
of white this morning. Approximately 7-9 inches of snow are
forecast to fall on campus through Thursday, with some other
Penn State locations -- particularly in the southern and eastern
parts of the Commonwealth -- expecting nearly a foot of the
white stuff.
Although the early
season winter storm causes headaches for commuters and those
with sidewalks to shovel, it also creates some picturesque images
of winter splendor at University Park -- as well as the occasional
impromptu snowball fight.
