John P. Boehmer, M.D.


John P. Boehmer, M.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He joined the College of Medicine faculty in 1992.

He is co-principal investigator for the Arrow Lionheart left ventricular assist system. Boehmer is site principal investigator for a number of multicenter clinical trials investigating ways to improve medical interventions for patients with heart failure.

Boehmer earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University in 1982 and his M.D. from Penn State College of Medicine in 1986. He served his residency at University of Massachusetts Medical Cneter and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a board certified in Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Cardiovascular diseases.

In 1996-97 and 1998, Boehmer was listed in "Best Doctors in America, Northeast Region," and in 1997 was listed in "Top Doctors" in Harrisburg Magazine.

Boehmer has published numerous scientific publications and given countless presentations.
