From tree to furniture: A recycling story

A diseased tree near the Hintz Family Alumni Center -- thought to be the oldest elm tree on Penn State's University Park campus -- had to be removed recently. Eisenhower, used as a backdrop both for official portraits and informal photographs. Instead of disposing of the wood, however, Penn State embarked upon the ultimate recycling project. The following pictures trace the tree's journey over the past year.
