University Park

Noon Sept. 11, Eisenhower Auditorium: University-wide interfaith ceremony, including a remembrance of the 10 known Penn State alumni who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. More ...

3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 11, 221 Ritenour Building: Anniversary Discussion Group offered by The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The session will be facilitated by psychologists Ken Nafziger and Julie States. Call (814) 863-0395 for more information.

7 p.m. Sept. 11, Schwab Auditorium: The Schreyer Honors College and the Office of Student Affairs are co-sponsoring a panel discussion called “September 11: The Meaning and The Aftermath.”

4 p.m. Sept. 12, 112 Kern Building: Robin Roberson Murphy, director of the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue at the University of South Florida, will present “Robot-Assisted Urban Search and Rescue at the WTC.” More ...

8 p.m. Sept. 14, Beaver Stadium: New York City firefighters will be honored in a ceremony before the football game between the Nittany Lions and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. 8:46 a.m. Sept. 11: Moment of Silence, preceded by a musical prelude on the campus chimes and followed by additional music.

Noon Sept. 11, Picnic Pavilion (rain location Graham Lobby): Remembrance Gathering. There will be an open microphone for anyone who wishes to speak. A moment of silence will be followed by a bagpipe postlude. The campus also is erecting a Remembrance Wall in Graham Lobby for students to hang items such as photos, poems, etc.

Noon Sept. 11, 105 Sharon Hall: Robert La Porte, professor of public administration and political science at University Park, will lecture about our relationship with Afghanistan, Pakistan and The Taliban.

Wilkes-Barre

8 a.m. Sept. 11: Students will be given gray ribbons to wear when they arrive on campus.

8:46, 9:25, 9:45 and 10:03 a.m. Sept. 11: Hayfield House chimes will toll four times each at the times of the four plane crashes. Everyone on campus will observe a moment of silence at this time.

Noon Sept. 11, flagpole in front of Hayfield House: Students, faculty and staff will convene for brief comments by CEO Mary Hines and Jonathan Sinclair, student government president. Students will be given red, white and blue carnations which will be laid at the flagpole at the end of ceremony. A student will play TAPS and chimes will toll again to mark the end of the ceremony. Light refreshments will follow.
