Web Conference Poster Session Guidelines
Tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 7. Details will be provided in the near future.
General definition:
A poster session is an excellent way to more informally present projects
and information. The presenter creates a poster of the information to be
shared, gives a short overview to individuals during the Poster Session,
followed by a more in-depth discussion with interested colleagues.
(definition provided by SIGUCCS).
In addition, here are some other items to note:
- non-competitive
- provides an avenue for those unable to present at the Web Conference
the chance to showcase Web-based initiatives happening in their
respective areas
- Present general information and invite visitors and viewers to ask
questions/engage in conversation
- Informational, shaped for audience
Special note: No more than two presenters per poster are permitted. Only one person per poster will be compensated for the cost of the conference, should he/she choose to attend. The person to be compensated should enter the IDCC as poster on the registration form.
Suggestions for Text and Graphics
- Clear and concise; simple, bold lettering legible from approx. 3 feet away.
- Text can enhance graphic depiction; lists or summaries to highlight
key points; use graphics as appropriate.
- Poster should have a clear starting point and ending point, as
appropriate to the subject matter.
- Additional tips are available via the guidelines set forth for NERCOMP's Poster Sessions.
Size and Display Requirements
In order to facilitate ease-of-setup and consistency, the Web Conference Planning Committee is asking that posters are either one of the following options:
- Tri-fold table display: 3' x 4' (36" x 48" -
typically the standard sizing for store bought tri-fold display boards).
- Single poster display: 3' x 2' (36" x 24")
