Spicer
Jeanne Spicer
is Manager of Programming Services at the Population
Research Institute. The PRI serves more than 70 researchers and 65 graduate
students from thirteen different departments in the social-, agricultural-,
and health-
related sciences. She manages a staff of programmers and graduate
assistants who provide social science researchers with a variety of
computer services including survey data collection, data management,
statistical analysis, research project management, graphics, and Web-based
information delivery. She also coordinates a workshop series on various
computer packages and databases for the social sciences. Jeanne has
over 12 years of experience programming in SAS. At PRI, her projects
have included the design & implementation of a GUI for the social
science data archive called SODAPOP, www.pop.psu.edu/data-archive/Sodapop.html.
Prior to joining PRI, she was an instructor in the Computer Science
department at Penn State, teaching "classical" languages,
such as COBOL. She received a Master's degree from the University of
Iowa in Library and Information Science. Jeanne has been a frequent
speaker at various local and regional SAS conferences and serves as
the coordinator of the Penn State SAS Users Group, www.pop.psu.edu/help/cacpri/psusug.
