UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Applications are now open for the 2020 cycle of the Erickson Discovery Grants.

Students interested in applying for one of the $3,500 grants for student engagement in original scholarship, research and creative work should apply here by Jan. 20.

In 2019, more than 70 undergraduate students took advantage of an Erickson grant to help them cover living expenses and project costs related to their undergraduate academic work, such as supplies, materials, books, software and travel. Projects are student initiated, can come from all academic fields, and are conducted under the supervision of a faculty member.

Students looking for help with their application materials should visit the University Fellowships Office at ufo.psu.edu. The fellowships office will provide feedback, but materials must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the Jan. 20 deadline.

Questions about Erickson Discovery Grants may be directed to Alan Rieck, associate vice president and associate dean for undergraduate education, at 814-863-1864 or ajr83@psu.edu.

The program is named in honor of Rodney A. Erickson, the 17th president of Penn State.

The Research Opportunities for Undergraduates program is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
