Bellisario College faculty, staff honored during annual awards ceremony

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Five faculty members, two staff members, two graduate students and an adjunct instructor received Deans’ Excellence Awards during the annual Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications Faculty and Staff Awards and Recognition Reception. Additionally, one staff member was recognized for 25 years of service.

The annual awards recognize people who put the mission of Penn State and the college into practice on a daily basis.

Faculty members honored were:

  • Anita Gabrosek, assistant teaching professor, film-video, Deans’ Excellence Award for Teaching;
  • Frank Dardis, associate professor, advertising/public relations, Deans’ Excellence Award for Service; 
  • Mary Beth Oliver, distinguished professor, media studies, Deans’ Excellence Award for Research and Creative Activity;
  • Sascha Meinrath, Palmer Chair in Telecommunications, Deans’ Excellence Award for Integrated Scholarship; and
  • Russell Frank, associate professor, journalism, Deans’ Excellence Award for Integrated Scholarship.

Mike Dawson, who teaches journalism courses in the college, was honored with the Outstanding Faculty Associate Award.

Stephanie Girouard, a staff assistant in the Office of Internships and Career Services, and Tammy Falls, an administrative support assistant, received the Deans’ Excellence Award for Staff.

Graduate students Arienne Ferchaud and Stephanie Orme each earned the Djung Yune Tchoi Graduate Teaching Award.

Additionally, Janet Klinefelter, alumni relations and stewardship officer, was recognized for 25 years of service.
