Civil engineering students win first place at ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) won first place in the Mid-Colonial District regional ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl, which took place April 15-17 in Philadelphia.

The competition features teams comprised of up to four students and tests their knowledge of ITE, transportation planning and engineering topics, as well as some fun categories. Since 2009, when the traffic bowl was first introduced, a total of 110 chapters have participated in at least one traffic bowl at either section- or district-level events.

The winners of the ITE district competitions advance to compete in the Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship, conducted annually at the institute’s International Annual Meeting and Exhibit, which this year will be held Aug. 20-23 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The students involved were Sarah Adsit, undergraduate student in civil engineering; Danielle Berman, master’s student in civil engineering; Owen Hitchcock, master’s student in civil engineering; and Nick Osikowicz, undergraduate student in civil engineering. Other teams competing in the competition included Morgan State University, Villanova University, and the University of Delaware.
