College of Arts and Architecture names summer 2019 student marshal

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Bryce Patterson has been selected as the College of Arts and Architecture’s student marshal for the summer 2019 commencement ceremony.

Patterson is the son of Bill and Stacy Patterson, of Chambersburg, and is graduating with a bachelor of landscape architecture degree.

During his time at Penn State, Patterson participated in three study abroad programs, including a semester in Bonn, Germany, and summer studies in Barcelona, Spain, and at the Udzungwa Ecological Monitoring Center in Tanzania.

In recognition of academic excellence, he received the Sam Atherholt Scholarship, the Wayne H. Wilson Memorial Scholarship, and the Leslie and Anna Pyle Memorial Scholarship. In recognition of his design skills, Patterson was the recipient of the Third Year Design Award and the Planting Design Award.

Patterson's research interests include the study of the origins of roads for pleasure driving and World War I era memorial trees and their relationship to U.S. highways.

His immediate graduation plans include acquiring his professional licensure and working as a practicing landscape architect.
