UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Grace Davis, daughter of Charles and DeFord Davis, of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, has been selected as the student marshal representing the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State’s summer commencement ceremony, set for Aug. 12 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus. A Schreyer Honors Scholar, Davis is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in statistics.

During her time at Penn State, Davis studied abroad in Spain, India and Greece. She served as the fundraising chair for Habitat for Humanity and treasurer of the Penn State International Justice Mission. She also was a distinguished member of the Penn State Psi Chi Honor Society and was a research assistant and exam proctor for the Department of Psychology. In addition, she spent her summers interning with Habitat for Humanity in Harrisburg and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Hershey Medical Center.

After graduation, Grace plans to work full time for a few years, most likely in the nonprofit sector (e.g. international nonprofit, anti-human trafficking organization, or social justice/equality organization) before continuing on to graduate school.

"By encouraging me to engage with information from diverse angles, my liberal arts education has improved my ability to examine small-scale and large-scale issues through multiple lenses and has made me more adept at considering holistic solutions to cultivate lasting societal change,” Davis said. “These skills will be invaluable to me as I progress in my career and future life."

Penn State will be livestreaming the commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Aug. 12, at http://commencement.psu.edu/summer-streaming.html
