UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Erin Thomas, daughter of Laura Thomas-Depippo and John Thomas, both of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, will serve as the college marshal for the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State's fall 2017 commencement ceremony on Dec. 16.
Thomas will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in communication sciences and disorders, and a 4.0 GPA. She’ll be escorted by faculty marshal Kelly Webb, instructor in communication sciences and disorders.
Thomas has been the recipient of numerous recognitions at Penn State, including the President’s Freshman Award, the Evan Pugh Scholar Award, and the President Sparks Award, and the Communications Disorders Award in the College of Health and Human Development.
While at Penn State, Thomas was a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, the College of Health and Human Development Honor Society, and the Penn State Sign Language Organization. Through those organizations, she has volunteered at area nursing homes and literacy events for children at local libraries.
Thomas is a 2014 graduate of Unionville High School in Kennett Square. Following graduation, she plans to attend a graduate program to become a certified speech therapist, working in a medical setting with individuals who have neurogenic disorders.
