The National Hemophilia Foundation has named Penn State Hershey’s Dr. Elaine Eyster as Physician of the Year. The award honors a distinguished physician who has had a major impact on the lives of individuals with bleeding disorders. Such a person shows compassion and knowledge of the latest treatments; is a patient advocate; and is a committed caregiver whose concern for patients is apparent in everything they do.
Eyster is credited for her role in ground-breaking clinical and research studies of hemophilia patients, especially regarding HIV- and Hepatitis C-related complications.
Recently, Eyster was also named the 2015 recipient of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Distinguished Service Award.
