UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence has expanded its video series “Faculty to Faculty: Tried & True Teaching Strategies,” which invites faculty instructors to share their teaching insights.
This series was first curated during the spring 2020 semester by the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and features instructors from across Penn State. Participants discussed challenges, hacks, benefits and lessons learned that they will apply to future teaching. Four more videos have recently been added to the series.
Some professors shared a specific app or website that worked well for remote learning, such as Kahoot!, described by Assistant Teaching Professor Patrick Dudas. Kahoot! allows users to make quizzes competitive and fun. Others, such as Information Technology Lecturer Kelsey Kirk, said they made sure to have materials available in multiple formats to help those who struggled to stream video due to bandwidth restrictions.
The Schreyer Institute is accepting nominations for videos on an ongoing basis. Names of faculty members who are doing something in their teaching worth sharing, big or small, can be sent along with their contact information to Deena Levy.
