UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State’s University Faculty Senate has announced the election of Pamela P. Hufnagel, assistant professor of education at Penn State DuBois, to the position of University Faculty Ombudsperson.
Hufnagel assumed this position on July 1, 2014, succeeding Deborah F. Atwater, associate professor emerita of communications arts and sciences, and African and African American studies, who has served as the University Faculty Ombudsperson since July 2010.
In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Hufnagel has served as coordinator of the Math Options Program at Penn State DuBois since 2000. She also is faculty advisor to the student PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association) at DuBois.
Hufnagel has been a faculty member at Penn State since 1984 and has served the University in numerous capacities. She has represented Penn State DuBois on the University Faculty Senate since 1999. She also serves on the Themes and Explorations Subcommittee of the General Education Task Force.
Previously, she served as Secretary of the University Faculty Senate (2007-08; 2011-13); a member of Senate Council (2007-08; 2011-13) a member of the Faculty Advisory Committee to the President (2007-08; 2011-13); and Faculty Representative on the Penn State Board of Trustees’ Committee on Outreach, Development and Community Relations (2012-13).
The University Faculty Ombudsperson coordinates the training of all college and campus ombudspersons and serves as the University-level contact for all unit ombudspersons. The University Faculty Ombudsperson reports periodically to Senate Council and maintains liaison with the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Office of Human Resources.
