Industrial engineering students receive foundry industry scholarships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Several undergraduate industrial engineering students at Penn State were recently awarded scholarships by groups supporting the U.S. foundry industry.

This fall, the Keystone Chapter of the American Foundry Society (AFS) awarded Nikki Casasanto, Devin Cole and Mike DeLancey scholarships; the Lehigh Valley Foundry Association presented Justin Lewis with a scholarship; and the Vitaulic Corporation awarded Nick DeLong and Tom Misiak scholarships through its Frederick H. Bedford Jr. and Margaret S. Bedford Charitable Foundation.

Additionally, Cole, DeLong, Tyler Sullivan and Paul Wright received H.H. Harris Foundation Scholarships during the summer of 2015, and Sullivan was also awarded a scholarship from the Chesapeake Chapter of the AFS.

The Penn State student chapter of AFS also received funding from the Pennsylvania Foundry Association.

All of the awards support students who are studying manufacturing processes and systems, and who have had internship or co-op experiences in the metalcasting industry. The metalcasting industry-university partnership has been supporting metalcasting education and research at Penn State for more than 50 years.
