UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Alair Moody-Daniels, a senior in the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology, has been successful in many aspects of her education — including co-leading the college’s Future Forum committee; serving as a PricewaterhouseCoopers campus ambassador for Penn State; and being elected president of the Women, International, Racial, Ethnic Diversity Intercultural Network (WIRED IN), an IST student organization that unites underrepresented students and provides a supportive network and professional development opportunities.

A change-of-campus student who spent her first two years at Penn State Harrisburg and Penn State Abington, respectfully, Moody-Daniels said she wasted no time getting involved when she arrived at University Park, as she loves meeting new people and being a leader. After attending IST events including the Pro Expo career fair, resume reviews and networking events last year, she developed a relationship with recruiters from PwC, which led to her summer internship as a technology consultant.

A Philadelphia resident, Moody-Daniels planned on interning in the PwC office in her hometown, but due to her technological and leadership skills, she was given the opportunity to travel to the Midwest to work with a confidential client. Although she could not disclose the location or name of her client, Moody-Daniels said it is a large, well-known financial institution with multiple locations across the U.S.

Moody-Daniels worked on the project management team to digitally transform her client’s current legacy systems with new technology solutions that will be implemented across all branches. She contributed technological expertise to help the client stay competitively ahead.

Moody-Daniels said she found her true calling with consulting, at which she has quickly excelled.

“I am able to provide my technical knowledge, business acumen and leadership qualities to deliver innovative technology solutions for clients,” Moody-Daniels said. “I love the versatility the industry provides. I get to meet new people, take on new challenges and travel to new places.”

Moody-Daniels said that her favorite thing about her internship was the opportunity to network and work with senior management, which she was able to do because of the high standards PwC set for her.

“Everything I did as intern reflected full-time associate expectations,” she said. “This internship has prepared me to be a stellar consultant and understand the technological needs of clients.”

She said that she admires PwC for its commitment to diversity and inclusion for its employees — including interns.

“I am passionate about the work I am doing as an intern because my inputs and thoughts are valuable to my engagement team,” said Moody-Daniels. “The opportunity to be a part of a team with diverse cultures, perspectives and experiences, and being able to contribute as an intern, is a phenomenal feeling.”
