UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — There is no better opportunity for students in the College of the Liberal Arts to explore the plethora of career opportunities available to them than Liberal Arts Career Week, which will be held Jan. 21 to 25. The weeklong series of workshops and panels, hosted by the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network, is in its third year of connecting liberal arts students with alumni and employers representing a wide range of sectors.

Liberal Arts Career Week features events applicable to liberal arts students with diverse career interests in all stages of their academic careers, from first-year students to those in graduate school. Workshops provide guidance on interacting with potential employers, pursuing graduate school or law school, choosing a major and career focus, taking a gap year, and highlighting marketable liberal arts skills. The week also features a workshop on stepping out of your comfort zone led by Happy Valley Improv and a Networking Etiquette Reception. Visiting employers include Kohl’s, Goldman Sachs, Teach for America, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Centre Helps, and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.

Liberal Arts Career Week events also provide students with distinctive opportunities to personally engage with employers and alumni. They can hear from public sector employers at the Government and Non-Profit Employer Panel and from alumni working in the private sector at the Business Industry Panel. Students also can register for one-on-one resume reviews with employers and appointments with the alumni from the Business Industry Panel on Friday, Jan. 25.

Students can check out the full list of 2019 Liberal Arts Career Week events below or on the Liberal Arts Career Week website. In addition to Liberal Arts Career Week, the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network hosts a multitude of events throughout the year and has four career coaches available to meet with liberal arts students about internships, job searches, study abroad opportunities, and resume and cover letter reviews.
