UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of the Liberal Arts held a "Meet the Deans" event last week to give graduate students the opportunity to interact with the deans of the college. Susan Welch, dean of the College of the Liberal Arts; Eric Silver, associate dean for research and graduate studies; and Paul Taylor, associate dean for undergraduate studies, were in attendance to introduce themselves and answer questions.
“We’re proud to be educating future teachers and innovators,” said Welch at the event. The rest of the conversation focused on time-to-degree, job placement, and the important role graduate students play in helping undergraduates.
With more than 800 graduate students in the college, Silver hopes to see similar get-togethers in the future.
“Events like this, where students and deans get to interact, are very important for the college community. Not only do they enable students to ask questions and learn about the college, but they also enable us as deans to ask questions and learn how our students are experiencing the college and to hear their ideas for improving it,” said Silver.
